In 2022, during the filming of my show Transition, I encountered a profound African ritual known as the Banusari ceremony, symbolizing rebirth and transformation. This powerful ritual involves gathering one’s old photographs and personal belongings and burying them into the earth—called Athabasca, meaning Mother Earth—as an act of release and renewal. Deeply resonating with the show’s core theme of metamorphosis, I felt an inner calling to shift the energy around me, let go of the past, and act. That’s when I chose to change my name—from Anil Lakhwani to Aryavir Lakhwane—stepping into a new chapter with renewed clarity and purpose.
